ODOXIL DT 125MG TABLET contains Cefadroxil which belongs to the group of medicines called Cephalosporin antibiotics. It is used in children to manage bacterial infections of the throat and upper part of the respiratory tract, skin and soft tissues, and the urinary tract. A bacterial infection can be defined as a proliferation of various harmful strains of bacteria in the body. They can affect any part(s) of the body including the respiratory tract, urinary tract, eyes, ears, skin, soft tissue, or bones.
ODOXIL DT 125MG TABLET must be taken with meals to avoid unwanted gastrointestinal side effects. Your doctor will decide the suitable dose for your child depending upon their age, body weight and severity of the infection.
Make sure that your child does not miss a dose of ODOXIL DT 125MG TABLET, as it may lead to growth of harmful bacteria within their body which cannot be further controlled by ODOXIL DT 125MG TABLET.
ODOXIL DT 125MG TABLET should not be used if your child is allergic to penicillin antibiotics (such as amoxicillin, ampicillin) or has severe kidney impairment. It is also important to inform your doctor if your child is going to undergo any blood test or urine test while undergoing therapy with ODOXIL DT 125MG TABLET.
The most common side effects of taking ODOXIL DT 125MG TABLET are nausea, vomiting, stomach pain and diarrhea. These side effects may probably reduce if ODOXIL DT 125MG TABLET is taken along with meals. However, consult your doctor if any of these side effect bothers your child.
Uses Of ODOXIL DT 125MG TABLET
It is indicated for the management of the following bacterial infections in young children (who weigh less than 40 kg):
throat infections (such as pharyngitis and tonsillitis)
respiratory infections (such as pneumonia)
urinary tract infections (such as cystitis or pyelonephritis)
skin and soft tissue infections (such as abscesses, furunculosis, impetigo, erysipelas, pyoderma, lymphadenitis)
